The success of the ICFORD in carrying out its duties and functions is largely determined by human resources (HR), funds, research facilities. Various development efforts have been made to improve human resources capabilities, both through short-term training, long term, as well as through scientific meetings at home and abroad.
By the end of 2017, ICFORD employed 695 people, among which 59 held doctoral degree, 101 with masteral degree, and 156 with Bachelor degree. Those includes 209 functional research staff with various disciplines. To improve the effevtiveness and efficiency of research, ICFORD operates various research facilities, including laboratories, experimental fields, and buildings. ICRR have proximate analysis laboratory, rice quality analysis, rice seed quality, pests and diseases, soil and plants.
Some of the existing laboratory prepared to get recognition from the National Accreditation Office (KAN). Balitkabi (ILETRI) have laboratory for analysis of soil fertility and plants, food chemical, analysis of plant pest and disease, and seed quality analysis. While Balitsereal (ICERI) have laboratory for soil fertility analysis, pest and plant disease, molecular biology, and seed quality analysis.
Funds for those activities are provided mainly by national government and partly by reasearch collaboration partners, including private companies, local government, and other national and international institutions.
